Luckenbooth brooches originated in 16th century Edinburgh. They were given as love tokens or lucky charms for warding off witches, and sold in the locked – or ‘lucken’- booths near St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile.

9ct gold brooch only has pearls set in. No pearls on silver brooch.

Beautiful love token

My husband gave this to me as an engagement gift. We had the pearls replaced with old Tay pearls as I am from Perthshire. I wear it as a pendant. It is absolutely beautiful and will no doubt become an heirloom
