Happy New Year!

Best wishes for 2017 from all at Ola Gorie.  And what better way to start the new year than by watching one of Orkney's most amazing sites, the Ness of Brodgar, being explored by Neil Oliver and team on BBC 2!

Tonight (Monday 9th) is the second episode.  Last week's is available on iplayer, and the third and last episode will be at the same time, 9pm, on Monday 16th.

Living here, and walking dogs amongst standings stones, or taking the kids to school past brochs and Viking cathedrals, we get a little blase about Orkney's heritage - because we live with it every day.  Seeing a wonderful programme like 'Ancient Capital of Britain: Secrets of Orkney' reminds us what a unique place we live in.  In fact recent excavations at the Ness, highlighted in this series, make us realise that Orkney's history is maybe even more magnificent than we imagined: the source of a whole stone circle, up to and including Stonehenge?  Why not!

We'll be watching tonight and next week to see whether Ola's jewellery gets a mention... https://www.olagoriejewellery.com/collections/ness-of-brodgar

Even if it doesn't, we don't mind, as we're such fans of the Ness excavation...remember, for every piece of Ness jewellery sold, we donate to the Ness of Brodgar Trust to help fund future excavations...and a haircut for Neil Oliver.
